Wearable Art: Meet the Artists Behind Monarque

Wearable Art: Meet the Artists Behind Monarque

There's a particular kind of joy in carrying something beautiful. Not beautiful in a way that sits behind glass, untouched, but beautiful in a way that rides along in your bag, slips into your pocket, and quietly makes an ordinary Tuesday feel a little more considered.

That's the idea Monarque was built around. We take artwork worth admiring — masterpieces from the great painters, the lush patterns of design history, the joyful animals and florals of beloved modern artists — and we put it on the things you actually reach for. Your wallet. Your glasses case. The little zip pouch that lives in your bag. The result is a small, everyday encounter with art you love.

Our collections draw from an unusually wide gallery. There's Vincent van Gogh, whose swirling Starry Night and tender Almond Blossoms feel as alive on a card case as they do on canvas. There's Claude Monet, who spent decades painting the water lilies and Japanese bridge in his own garden. There's William Morris, the founder of the Arts and Crafts movement, who believed beautiful design belonged in everyday life — a sentiment that could be Monarque's own motto.

Alongside the classic masters, we feature artists with devoted modern followings. The late Laurel Burch, whose vivid cats and dogs have charmed collectors for decades. Georgia O'Keeffe, whose bold, magnified flowers changed American art. Frida Kahlo, whose florals carry all the color and courage of her remarkable life. Each one brings a different mood, a different reason to fall in love.

And then there are the designs that aren't tied to a single name at all — our luminous Art Glass patterns, the cool swirl of Blue Marble, sun-bright florals, faithful dogs and horses, and the quietly uplifting word designs like Adventure Begins and All Things Are Possible.

What ties it all together isn't one style. It's a point of view: that the objects you use most deserve to be the ones you love most. Over the next several posts, we'll introduce these artists one by one — their stories, their work, and the Monarque pieces that carry them. Consider this your invitation to the gallery.
